Anxiety Should Never Keep You From the Care You Need

Dental anxiety is far more common than most people realize, and for many patients it leads to putting off treatment for years, sometimes until small problems become serious ones.

At ProMax Implants & Oral Surgery, your comfort is central to how we care for you. That is why we offer several sedation and anesthesia options, all overseen by our in-house anesthesia team. Whether you feel slightly nervous or have avoided the dentist for years, we will find the right approach for your procedure and your peace of mind.

In-House Anesthesia Creates More Than a Calm, Comfortable Treatment

Sedation does more than ease nerves; it transforms the entire dental care experience. With the right approach, even patients who struggle with routine visits can comfortably complete the treatment they need. Sedation dentistry at ProMax Implants & Oral Surgery allows you to:

Sedation and Anesthesia Options for Every Comfort Level

Nitrous Oxide

Often called laughing gas, nitrous oxide is the lightest form of sedation we offer and a good fit for mild anxiety or shorter procedures. Breathed in through a small mask, it produces a gentle sense of calm within minutes while you remain awake and responsive. Because it clears quickly, most patients can drive themselves home afterward.

Oral Conscious Sedation

With oral conscious sedation, you take a prescribed medication before your appointment so it takes effect by the time treatment begins. You stay conscious and able to respond, but feel deeply relaxed, and most patients remember little of the procedure. Since the effects last several hours, you will need someone to drive you home. This option works well for moderate anxiety or longer appointments.

IV Sedation

IV sedation is delivered directly into the bloodstream, allowing precise control over the depth of sedation. It takes effect quickly and produces deep relaxation; patients are technically conscious but usually have no memory of the procedure. This is our most common choice for implant surgery, full-arch treatment, and wisdom teeth removal, and our in-house anesthesia team continuously monitors it.

General Anesthesia

General anesthesia keeps you fully unconscious during your procedure, with complete comfort and no awareness of treatment. We reserve it for the most complex cases or for patients whose medical history or anxiety calls for it. It is administered and managed in-house by our anesthesia team.

What to Expect Before, During, and After Treatment with Sedation Dentistry

Before your procedure, we review your medical history and provide clear preparation instructions to keep you safe and comfortable. During treatment, your vital signs are carefully monitored as our team provides precise, attentive care.

Afterward, you will feel relaxed, and for every option except nitrous oxide, you will need a responsible adult to drive you home. Most patients describe a smooth recovery and are glad they chose sedation.

Dental Anesthesia FAQs

Yes. When administered by trained professionals with continuous monitoring, sedation has an excellent safety record. Every plan is tailored to your medical history, medications, and procedure.

It depends on the option. Lighter sedation keeps you awake, but relaxed. IV sedation usually leaves no memory of treatment, and general anesthesia keeps you fully asleep. We will explain exactly what to expect.

Side effects are typically mild and short-lived, such as drowsiness, dry mouth, or slight grogginess. Serious complications are rare with proper monitoring.

For all options except nitrous oxide, yes. The effects last well beyond your appointment, so a responsible adult should drive you home.

For implant surgery and wisdom teeth removal, sedation is included in your treatment price rather than billed as a separate fee. We believe comfort should be part of your care.
